For more than a decade, Chris Powell has developed and maintained a reputation among fans, peers, and the music community with his incredibly dynamic, powerful & natural style of drumming, which has inspired many upcoming musicians to pursue the art of drumming as a profession. His creative capabilities are built on a solid foundation of knowledge and respect for music. Chris showcased cutting-edge and power packed drumming and innovative use of electronic and acoustic drums, bringing him country wide recognition
Chris formed his first band NIRVANA (India) in 1985, along with his brother Desmond Powell. Nirvana received accolades from the music circuit for more than 8years, for their Rock concerts through out India.
In 1998, Chris joined the band EUPHORIA and continued for several years contributing valuably to album compositions & electrifying live performances during tours and events covering many educations institutions, corporate organizations Award Nites such as Bollywood Film fare Awards, Zee Cine Awards, Tollywood Filmfare Awards, MTV Emmies/ Music Awards, Channel V-Road shows etc.
He has performed for many international events such as Beale Streel Music Festival – Memphis-(U.S.A), United Nations Peace concert -General Assembly Hall, New York, Indo – Pak Peace Concerts- Dubai.
His drumming has also been showcased to audience in countries such as Mauritius, Muscat, Sri-Lanka, Thailand, Middle Eastern countries and Nepal.
Chris has also worked together in projects with distinguished artist such as Shubha Mudgal, Sarod Maestros- Aman & Ayaan Ali and Jazz outfit- HFT, Electronic Rock Band -Nail Factory (Australia). Currently working closely with world renowned Percussionist- Pete Lockett (U.K.)
He released his first International Single-NAMASTASYAI with Underscore records featuring famous vocals of SHUBHA MUDGAL in 2006.
